Carlson-Johannson Scholarships
2025 Carlson-Johannson Scholarship
Registration for the scholarship is now open. Deadline: March 10, 2025. Follow the links below.

Each year the Rochester Hockey Foundation offers scholarships to Rochester high school senior hockey players. The scholar award is in honor of Arley Carlson and Ken Johannson, two hockey legends who played for the professional Rochester Mustang hockey team during the 1950s and 1960s. Both players are now enshrined in the Rochester Sports Hall of Fame.

Carlson and Johannson started hockey schools for youth hockey players in the old indoor Mayo Civic auditorium arena. In the first years of the program both men paid for the ice and facilities with their own funds. As the program matured it evolved into a Foundation that supported capital improvements at Graham Arena and the Recreation Center, and provided grants to high school seniors for scholarships and all-star selection. Since 1976 more than 300 deserving hockey players have received this scholarship.
